Today MFR MLS hosted their Officer & Director Installation Ceremony.

Ken Welch has been installed as the MFR MLS Director, representing EPCAR. Congratulations Ken, and thank you for your continuing service.

Also, congrats to Sally Cinquanti after 10 years of hard and very important work for MFR MLS on behalf of EPCAR.

Jack R. Myers: Republican for State Senate

He’s a husband, father, and an EPCAR member! Jack Myers will be running for State Senate this year.

On his campaign brochure he states, “I’ve never forgotten who I am or where I come from. Just like you, I’m facing tough times. But I know, if we can get government out of our way, the same hard work, great ideas, and determination that made our country great will make us greater yet! Please join my campaign if you share that belief.”- Jack Myers

He will begin his campaign with a fundraising reception this Friday, March 16th.

Thank you to this month’s Membership Meeting & Luncheon guest speakers, Sheriff Grady Judd & Major Mike Pruitt.

There was a particular topic Sheriff Judd spoke of that stayed in the mind long after the meeting was over, the topic was: the benefit of helping one another. He said often times a neighbor, a friend, or even you can help the sheriff’s office solve a crime!

Polk County is a great place to live. We can keep it that way by helping one another out, not only to solve crimes, but to help our fellow citizens lead happier lives!

Hello from Florida Realtors midwinter business meetings!

So far it has been a full day of enlightment. According to FREC real estate license applications are up this year! But with this positive trend comes a negative one- number of complaints. Complaints against licensees were 5500 in 2010 but up to 5900 in 2011. Please note that not all complaints had merit nor did all result in disciplinary actions. FREC publishes this disciplinary report on its website – you may want to check it out.

Brokers, apparently in the past FREC used to conduct audits when addressing monetary complaints. The commission is resuming these audits so please take notice. To learn more about industry trends and the work of the commission, look for the return of FREC’s meetings which will be streamed once again starting this month on the 24th and 25th. Thank you to Director Juanan Watson for such an important and informative briefing. And thank you to all of you for reading my meeting notes!

What an eventful year for EPCAR! Not only did the Association receive two new staff members, but a new website as well. All twelve months were filled with exciting events, educational classes, and informative meetings. Many introductions, smiles, and laughs were shared. Thank you 2011!
